BIBLE AS LITERATURE: GENESIS TO PSALMS
The first of three courses on the Bible. This section covers the first nineteen books of the Bible and so covers the history of Israel as God's response to the human problems explained in Genesis 1-11. After opening with a brief introduction to the Bible, we cover the Bible prologue in Genesis 1-11, then launch into a survey of the history of ancient Israel from God's call and covenant with Abraham and his descendents through the story of Moses and the people of Israel as they form and enter the Promised Land, to the rise and fall of the nation and the return of the remnant. In addition, the Wisdom literature is introduced and we survey the Book of Job and the Psalms.
